Bible in 365 Days – Day 58

Day 58 We accomplish our spiritual strategic purpose when we are aligned with and positioned by God.

Focus Chapters:

  • Numbers 2-3

Standout Verse(s):

Numbers 2:2-3; 9-10, 16-18, 24-25, 31 NLT

“When the Israelites set up camp, each tribe will be assigned its own area. The tribal divisions will camp beneath their family banners on all four sides of the Tabernacle, but at some distance from it.

“The divisions of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun are to camp toward the sunrise on the east side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners. So the total of all the troops on Judah’s side of the camp is 186,400. These three tribes are to lead the way whenever the Israelites travel to a new campsite.

“The divisions of Reuben, Simeon, and Gad are to camp on the south side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners. So the total of all the troops on Reuben’s side of the camp is 151,450. These three tribes will be second in line whenever the Israelites travel.

“Then the Tabernacle, carried by the Levites, will set out from the middle of the camp. All the tribes are to travel in the same order that they camp, each in position under the appropriate family banner.

“The divisions of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Benjamin are to camp on the west side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners. So the total of all the troops on Ephraim’s side of the camp is 108,100. These three tribes will be third in line whenever the Israelites travel.

“The divisions of Dan, Asher, and Naphtali are to camp on the north side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners. So the total of all the troops on Dan’s side of the camp is 157,600. These three tribes will be last, marching under their banners whenever the Israelites travel.”

Observation (s):

  1. God specified the position that each tribe would take while at rest and travelling. It was not left up to Moses or any other person to decide.

The divisions of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun…These three tribes are to lead the way whenever the Israelites travel to a new campsite.

    AND

The divisions of Reuben, Simeon, and Gad…These three tribes will be second in line whenever the Israelites travel.

    AND

The divisions of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Benjamin…These three tribes will be third in line whenever the Israelites travel.

    AND

The divisions of Dan, Asher, and Naphtali…These three tribes will be last, marching under their banners whenever the Israelites travel.

  2. The tribes were positioned in relation to the Tabernacle, that represented the presence of God.

“The divisions of Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun are to camp toward the sunrise on the east side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners.

    AND

The divisions of Reuben, Simeon, and Gad are to camp on the south side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners.

    AND

The divisions of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Benjamin are to camp on the west side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners.

    AND

The divisions of Dan, Asher, and Naphtali are to camp on the north side of the Tabernacle, beneath their family banners.

Application:

The role of Chief Operating Officer (CEO) is very critical. The CEO is responsible for making strategic decisions, managing overall operations and steering his organizational resources in a way that is guaranteed to fulfil strategic objectives. In order for the CEO to be effective, all his direct reports must be aligned with him.

God, as the CEO of our lives, has a similar and more complicated role. With His All-Knowing capabilities, it is God’s responsibility to strategically and proactively equip and steer us towards the fulfillment of our purpose. For the Israelites, the strategic objective to be met was to enter Canaan and drive out its inhabitants. As the Israelites slowly made their way towards Canaan, God called for a reorganization of the way they positioned themselves, aligning them to tabernacle that represented his presence. Similar to the CEO and his direct reports, God requires for us to be positioned by Him to ensure our alignment with Him. Only when we are on one accord with God can our strategic purpose be accomplished.

So I have two questions for you:

  1. Who is the CEO of your life?
  2. If you said God to #1, are you aligned with and positioned by Him?

A Ziplining Lesson

Recently, I went on a work trip. Part of the trip took us to Y.S. Falls where I tried 5 ziplines for the first time. Like any first experience of that active nature, I didn’t quite know how to feel but as the experience continued, I picked up a couple lessons on the way.

Before we could start, we were locked into the relevant gear including helmets. As we stood waiting for all our team members to be geared-up, we had a couple of persons who had done it already and they were the ones who tried to alleviate some of our fears. However, in talking, these were the ones who made facing the experience even more fearful. My level of fear was slowing vamping up as I stood listening. I realised then that whilst God has not given me a spirit of fear, fear could be found within the uncertainty of excelling at the unknown and from external factors like well-meaning individuals. At that point I stopped listening and told myself that I could do it.

The walk to the first zipline was long especially since I haven’t done any exercise in months. Again I found myself wavering as my lungs struggled for air and my knees protested and threatened to buckle. Just when I was about to give in to my wavering mind and protesting body, I reached the top and it was beautiful! From this experience, another lesson emerged. The hardest step to fulfilling your dream is the preparation stage to beginning. Sometimes everything will seem to be against you as you try to put things in place. You may even consider giving up but if you hold out, your destination (starting point) will be incredibly beautiful. With everything in place, you will be filled with an incredible pride and satisfaction as you stand on the brink of conquering the world.

Your Tongue and Faith – The Dynamic Duo

image

There is life and death in the power of the tongue! Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains! Faith “calls” it done and that settles it! There are so many scriptures/quotes that deal with the individual powers of the tongue and faith. Can you imagine if they were put together as a dynamic duo?

It was the summer of 2012. I had just completed 6th form and gotten my acceptance letters for 3 universities. One in the States (giving me a 1/2 scholarship) and two in Jamaica. I decided to forgo the one in States because this girl was dumb and in love (not that I regret the decision now).

God’s got you COVERED – Part 2

image

Yesterday I shared two testimonies with you guys about how God has me covered. As I mentioned it was the first of a two part series showing how God has worked in my life to preserve my life. Today was a rough day for me. I was in a lot of pain and the Lord just reminded me that I still had a lot to give Him thanks for even though things didn’t go my way.

LAST WEEK MONDAY MORNING
I left early for work that morning. In fact, I was very determined to be early for work. During the ride into town, I started to feel really nauseous. I questioned the Lord as to what was the issue because I knew I had had been fine just moments ago. The only thought that came to me after my query was that I should walk a bit slowly instead of my normally rapid pace. Even though I knew slowing down would make me late for work, I decided to obey the thought.

God’s got you COVERED – Part 1

image

For the past few months, I kept talking about God having my back and tonight I want to share with you a 3-part testimony in a 2-part series. I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 5 DAYS!!!

FRIDAY MORNING
Though tired from my week of Youth Congress activities, I woke early with the resolve that I wanted to reach work early to get more things done.

The Fears of Yesterday

All of us, as human beings, have tasted the frightening effects of fear. The sad part is that some of us allow the fear to dominate us to the point where we don’t even try the things we have wanted the most and thus, it cripples and prevents us from being the best versions of ourselves. One quote that I’ve kept constantly in my heart is”

Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.

The first and only time I came across this quote was some years ago while watching the Hillary Duff movie “Cinderella Story”. I don’t even remember much of the plot of the movie but I have never forgotten the quote.

This week, I touched a milestone and found myself reminiscing on the fears I had to overcome to get to it. Today, I will be listing some of these fears  and telling why I have no regrets in moving past them.

  1. I feared losing my best friend: I eventually lost my best friend despite all I did to prevent it but you know what? I survived! While in the process of learning to come back from the abyss of emotional despair, I picked up a few lessons. Not everyone who comes into your life is meant to stay, some are just to teach you lessons and go. That was the role of my best friend. I also learned who were the persons in my life I could lean on for support.
