Bible in 365 Days – Day 136

DAY 136.png

Focus Chapters:

  • Psalms 144-145
  • Psalms 88-89

Standout Verse(s):

Psalms 89:9 NLT

You rule the oceans.
You subdue their storm-tossed waves.

Observation (s):

  1. God rules and has control over all elements and habitants of the sea.

    You rule the oceans.
        You subdue their storm-tossed waves.

Application:

DC Universe’s mythical Aquaman is the Lord of the seas. The true ruler of Atlantis and King of the Seven Seas, Aquaman can control all ocean elements and creatures no matter where in the ocean he is. He is also known for controlling water, even on land, mastering tumultuous waves and stopping tsunamis.

God is the real-life version of Aquaman. However, His realm is not limited to the seas. God is the ruler of all things. When we acknowledge His rulership and place Him at the helm of our lives, we give Him permission to rule our lives. A part of that control gives Him the right to subdue any storm-tossed waves that upset the pace of our daily lives, purpose or destinies. Through His intervention, the disaster and havoc, that these waves can wreck, are averted. Thus, with God at the helm of our lives, we can rest safely in the eye of any storm.

Bible in 365 Days – Day 134

DAY 134.png

Focus Chapters:

  • Psalms 103
  • Psalms 108-110
  • Psalms 122
  • Psalms 124

Standout Verse(s):

Psalms 124:2-5 NLT

What if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us?
They would have swallowed us alive
in their burning anger.
The waters would have engulfed us;
a torrent would have overwhelmed us.
Yes, the raging waters of their fury
would have overwhelmed our very lives.

Observation (s):

  1. With God on your side, you will not be overwhelmed by the storms and enemies of life.

    What if the Lord had not been on our side
    when people attacked us?
    They would have swallowed us alive
    in their burning anger.
    The waters would have engulfed us;
    a torrent would have overwhelmed us.
    Yes, the raging waters of their fury
    would have overwhelmed our very lives.

Application:

In moments like these, I feel incredibly grateful. There has been so many instances when God was on my side. God was in my corner when I was earmarked for death at a young age. I had constant asthma attacks, fainting spells and even got hit by a fast-moving bike while I was walking. Yet, here I stand. God was in my corner when I struggled financially. God was in my corner when I struggled emotionally and mentally. He always knew the push, comfort or encouragement I needed and always provided it. God stood by me when I felt all alone. He interceded when the situations and people within my life rose up to overthrow and swamp me. Like David, I fear to think what would have happened if the Lord had not been on my side.

With God on your side you can live life bravely, knowing that He will not allow the storms or enemies of life to overwhelm you. Stop for a moment and think. If it had not been for the Lord on your side, where would you be?
